What does the HBeAg Test Measure ?

HBeAg test measures the presence of Hepatitis B Virus carriers or hepatitis B antibodies in the blood thereby understanding the level of infection. Positive HBeAg results usually indicate presence of active HBV replication and high infectivity. A negative HBeAg result indicates very minimal or no HBV replication.

Why should I do the HBeAg Test ?

You need to test for HBeAg if:

Individuals suspected of having hepatitis B

High-risk groups: This includes individuals with multiple sexual partners, those who have had intercourse with someone at high risk of HBV infection, and healthcare workers.

Healthcare workers: They are at increased risk of exposure to HBV

Pregnant women: Testing helps identify HBV infection, which can be transmitted to the child.

How is the HBeAg Test Done ?

How often should CBC Test be Done ?

HBeAg is done on the advise of the doctor. Frequency of the test depends upon the reason for which it is being done. If you are a pregnant female then probably at the start of the pregnancy you may be advised the test just once, unless you show certain signs that suggests that you might be affected by Hepatitis B. If you are an active Hepatitis B patient then it may be advised by the doctor quarterly or monthly depending upon the protocol of the treatment.
