Our body has an inbuilt mechanism of fighting the bacteria, viruses and other organisms that enter our body and try to develop a disease in the body. This mechanism is called the immune system of the body. Sometimes this immune system starts to malfunction and starts attacking the healthy cells of the body instead of the intruders. This condition is called auto immune disease.
There are over 100 known autoimmune diseases. Common ones include lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis.
Autoimmune diseases can affect many types of tissues and nearly any organ in your body. They may cause a variety of symptoms including pain, tiredness (fatigue), rashes, nausea, headaches, dizziness and more. Specific symptoms depend on the exact disease.

An antinuclear antibody (ANA) test is a blood test that checks for antinuclear antibodies in your blood. Antinuclear antibodies are a type of antibody called autoantibodies, which are produced by the immune system and attack healthy cells and tissues.
The ANA test can be performed in two ways:
Indirect immunofluorescence: This test gives two types of results: a titer and a pattern.
Solid-phase assays: This test attaches a panel of autoantigens to a solid surface.
For this test no special preparation is required. The phlebo can take the blood sample from a vein in your arm at the lab or at your home. At Maurya Labs, this test is done on the most advanced Elisa Strip Reader from USA and the report is given on the same day.

ANA (Positive / Negative)
There are no cures for autoimmune diseases, but symptoms can be managed. Everyone’s immune system, genetics and environment are different. That means that your treatment must be unique.
Some examples of medications used to treat autoimmune diseases include:
Painkillers.
Anti inflammatories.
Medications for depression and anxiety.
Insulin injections.
Sleeping medications.
Plasma exchanges.
Corticosteroids.
Rash creams and pills.
Intravenous immune globulin.
Drugs that suppress (subdue) your immune system.

What is Anti Nuclear Antibody (ANA) Test ?
Autoimmune disorders leads to an immune system response that starts killing its own antigens and thus causing self harm. ANA test detects antinuclear antibodies (ANA) in blood by ELISA technology. The test targets certain structures within the nucleus of a cell, it can assist in diagnosing autoimmune disorders
What Does ANA Test measure ?
The blood test measures the presence of Anti nuclear antibodies which are responsible for some of the autoimmune diseases.
How is the ANA Test Done ?
The APL test is a simple blood test with no fasting requirement before the test. The blood sample can be taken by the phlebotomist at a pathology lab or at home. At Maurya Labs the test is done using Elisa Strip Reader from USA. The sample collection takes less than a minute and the report is given on the same day.
When is ANA Test Advised ?
If you have these symptoms, your doctor may suggest an ANA test:
Joint and/or muscle pain, stiffness, or swelling
Tiredness
Recurring or persistent fever
A butterfly-like red rash that covers the cheeks and the end of the nose
Weakness
Light sensitivity
Numbness and tingling in your hands or feet
Hair loss.
